Data Platform team lead

We’re looking for a hands-on Data Platform team lead to drive the Data team within FundGuard’s Core Platform group. You’ll manage and grow a team of senior engineers responsible for the backend services and platform foundation that power data-heavy, distributed capabilities at scale.

In this role, you’ll take ownership from design through production for core infrastructure initiatives, partnering closely with release managers, security, and engineering stakeholders to prioritize work, remove blockers and ensure reliable delivery. You’ll raise the bar on engineering excellence through strong standards, thoughtful reviews, and pragmatic decision-making, ensuring the team ships high-quality systems that are scalable, observable, and resilient.

The team you lead will be responsible for:

• Architect Scalable Persistence: Own the lifecycle of data at scale, ensuring robust persistence and performance across distributed environments
• Drive Data Evolution: Lead the strategy for seamless data migrations and schema evolution without impacting system availability
• Ensure Resilience: Design and implement rigorous Disaster Recovery (DR) protocols and Blue-Green deployment patterns to guarantee system reliability

Requirements:

1. At least 2 years of experience in leading R&D teams in fast paced environments
2. 5+ years of experience in software engineering using modern programming languages (Java, Python, Go, Rust, C/C++, etc)
3. Background in high-performing engineering orgs (including elite technological units) and/or Computer Science (or equivalent) degree(s) from leading universities
4. Proven experience with Spark / Flink for large-scale data processing - significant advantage
5. Deep understanding of modern data lakehouse technologies and formats, such as Iceberg, Trino, Snowflake, and Parquet - significant advantage

Nice to have skills:

1. Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for building robust, enterprise-grade backend services
2. Experience with Kafka or similar message brokers for building event-driven architectures and real-time data streaming
3. Experience designing and managing data migration, disaster recovery, and blue-green deployment strategies for data-intensive systems
4. Familiarity with NoSQL and indexing technologies such as Cassandra, Redis, or Elasticsearch for low-latency data access
5. Hands-on experience with cloud providers (AWS/Azure/GCP) and container orchestration using Kubernetes (K8s)
