Hands-On Engineering Lead

About the Role

We are building a small, elite engineering team operating at the intersection of UAVs, electro-optical systems, autonomy, and advanced sensing technologies.

The team operates as part of a global technology group active in the fields of unmanned systems and electro-optics, with proven capabilities spanning system development, integration, testing, and deployment in real-world environments.

This setting provides access to mature technologies, operational platforms, and multidisciplinary engineering infrastructure, enabling work on complex, end-to-end systems that must perform reliably under demanding field conditions.

We are looking for a senior, Hands-On Engineering Lead to serve as the technical lead across projects, combining deep engineering execution with system-level leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead system architecture across hardware, software, and algorithms
• Perform hands-on development and integration of UAV platforms, sensors, and control systems
• Drive technical analysis, architectural decisions, and system-level trade-offs
• Define system requirements, interfaces (ICDs), and validation strategies
• Lead complex projects involving UAVs, electro-optical systems, communications, and control units
• Act as the technical focal point across multidisciplinary engineering efforts
• Support integration, testing, and validation in laboratory and field environments

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in multidisciplinary engineering roles
• Proven experience in software development for UAV platforms and sensor-based systems
• Strong background in hardware–software co-design
• Experience working with embedded systems, processors, sensors, and communication interfaces
• System-level understanding of UAVs, autonomous, or robotic systems
• Hands-on, execution-oriented mindset with the ability to deliver end-to-end systems
• Leadership potential and interest in growing into an engineering management role

Nice to Have

• Experience with ArduPilot / Betaflight flight control stacks
• Experience with electro-optical payloads
• Background in defense, security, or mission-critical systems
• Experience working with systems for GPS-denied environments
