Role Description

Carrar is seeking an experienced Vice President of R&D to lead our multidisciplinary research and development efforts. Based at our Sderot HQ, this executive role is central to developing and scaling our battery and thermal management technologies. The VP will manage all R&D functions—including thermal systems, heat transfer, mechanical design, control algorithms, and data analysis—ensuring alignment with Carrar’s business strategy and product roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Define and drive the R&D roadmap in alignment with commercial, product, and operational goals.
• Technology Development: Lead development of Carrar’s core technologies, including advanced battery modules and two-phase thermal systems.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Project Management, Procurement, and Admin to ensure seamless development and delivery cycles.
• Team Building & Mentorship: Recruit, grow, and lead a high-performing team of engineers and scientists.
• Execution Excellence: Manage product development from proof of concept through TRL 6+ validation and certification (IATF, DNV).
• IP Strategy & Compliance: Oversee patent filings and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
• Customer & Partner Engagement: Lead technical engagement with OEMs, Tier 1s, and partners to support development milestones, PoCs, and product integration.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in R&D leadership roles in battery systems, power electronics, or thermal management
• Advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (Ph.D. preferred)
• Proven track record of bringing hardware technologies from prototype to production
• Experience in automotive or energy sectors, including standards and certifications is a major advantage
• Strong domain expertise in thermal systems, electrochemistry, fluid dynamics, and mechanical integration
• Leadership experience with cross-functional technical teams
• Professional English – both verbal and script.
• Knowledge of various analytical methods and data analysis.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
