Senior Backend Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help design, build, and operate the core backend and data infrastructure of our platform. This is a deeply hands-on role focused on solving complex scalability, performance, and reliability challenges.

You’ll work on high-throughput services, data pipelines, and storage layers, spending most of your time writing production-grade code, reviewing designs, and debugging real-world issues. As a fast-growing startup, our architecture is constantly evolving – and you’ll play a meaningful role in shaping how it grows, making practical trade-offs as scale, data volume, and complexity increase. You’ll collaborate closely with product and other engineers, turning product requirements into robust backend solutions.

This role is a great fit for experienced backend engineers who enjoy owning backend systems end to end, care deeply about performance and correctness, and want to have real technical impact in a startup where strong engineering directly shapes the product and the company.

Hard Skills / Experience

• 7+ years of experience in backend or data engineering, including designing and operating large-scale data pipelines.
• Deep knowledge of query optimization, data schemas, and performance tuning.
• Proven experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), including deployment, scaling, and observability.
• Experience working with large-scale databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.).
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, ideally in Node, Python, Java, or Go, with Typescript knowledge being essential.
• Track record of shipping resilient, production-grade systems.

Engineering Excellence / Mindset

• Strong engineering judgment – able to anticipate technical risks, identify bottlenecks, and make sound trade-offs as systems evolve.
• Deep ownership mentality over code quality, documentation, reliability, and observability.
• Product-aware engineer who can collaborate closely with product and design, balancing user needs with technical constraints.
• Proactive and autonomous, comfortable taking responsibility for complex features from design through production.
• Enjoys raising the bar – improving existing systems, mentoring peers when needed, and contributing to a culture of technical excellence.

Bonus Points

• Experience with ClickHouse or other analytical/OLAP databases.
• Familiarity with data streaming / real-time pipelines (e.g., Kafka, Flink, etc.).
• Prior experience in early-stage or fast-scaling environments.

• This is a full-time on-site position located in Tel Aviv.
