The Opportunity

We are looking for a strong, hands-on R&D Manager to lead Mozo (getmozo.com) engineering team and own the entire R&D function. This role reports directly to the CEO and combines strategic leadership with deep technical execution. You will shape our technical direction while remaining closely involved in architecture and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute Mozo’s R&D strategy in alignment with company goals.
• Lead system architecture across backend, frontend, mobile, and cloud.
• Manage and mentor a small, high-performing engineering group.
• Stay hands-on with system design and key development efforts.
• Own end-to-end delivery from planning to production.
• Oversee AWS infrastructure, CI/CD, DevOps, and production reliability.
• Collaborate with Product and leadership to prioritize based on business impact.
• Establish scalable engineering processes and KPIs.
• Ensure system scalability, security, and performance.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and delivering complex software systems in production environments.
• Strong track record driving ownership culture and technical execution.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud services and cloud-native architectures.
• Strong experience working with relational and non-relational databases.
• Experience working in mobile ecosystems - an advantage.
• Background in B2C or cybersecurity products - an advantage.
• Strong ability to connect engineering execution to business metrics.
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment with high autonomy.
