The Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and reporting the verification and the validation of KappaSense products.
The term "product" refers, in general, to an encoder which is comprised of all parts necessary in order to measure and report position.
The V&V process begins after the product design team has finished their bring-up and integration tasks and ends when the product is ready for transfer to production. Product changes and improvements can occur during the V&V process.
In general, the following definitions apply:
· Verification: Ensuring the product meets the functional requirements as defined the product requirements specification.
o Testing at the level of an individual product tested under lab conditions.
o This can include white-box testing, and always includes black-box testing.
o Verification also includes environmental and stress testing that is required in order to verify that the design meets the defined immunity environmental and stress requirements.
· Validation: Ensuring that the product meets the functional requirements in the environment of the customer's systems
o System testing
o Performing regulatory compliance testing to ensure that the product meets the defined regulatory requirements
Roles and Responsibilities
Planning the V&V
· Studying and understanding the product specifications and how the customers use the product. Verify that product functional specifications are clear and are testable.

· Ensure, using appropriate documentation, that all tests are easily repeatable, both by the V&V engineer and by other people who have the necessary level of competence.
Reporting the V&V Results
· Writing comprehensive test reports that included all objective evidence and explanations that are needed to enable other product stakeholders to understand the product status.
o Here, again, emphasis must be placed on the repeatability of tests by other suitably competent personnel.
· Conducting reviews of the test results, demonstrating test procedures when required, re-testing when required.
· Ensuring that during and at the end of the process, the V&V documentation is clear and is saved in a location that is accessible to all stakeholders.
