Head of Information Technology

Sheba Medical Center is seeking a Head of Digital & Information Systems to lead the establishment of the digital and IT domain for Sheba Negev, a new hospital currently in its planning and development phase.

This is a unique opportunity to design and build the digital infrastructure of a next-generation hospital, advancing innovative healthcare and improving access to advanced medicine in Israel’s periphery.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead the Digital & Information Systems domain, including system definition, selection, procurement, and implementation of core infrastructure and clinical platforms.
• Define and execute the hospital’s overall digital strategy, incorporating medical innovation, BI & AI solutions, clinical decision-support systems, and full integration of clinical and operational data.
• Lead the design, implementation, and operation of the digital patient medical record, integrating laboratory, imaging, inpatient care, telemedicine, consultations, and clinical documentation.
• Plan and implement cross-system integrations ensuring data continuity, integrity, role-based accessibility, and information security.
• Collaborate closely with vendors, the Ministry of Health, and Sheba Tel Hashomer to leverage knowledge, tools, and shared resources.
• Develop organizational data governance policies including access management, classification standards, privacy, and cybersecurity.
• Establish organizational knowledge management infrastructure across clinical, operational, and planning domains.
• Support the hospital establishment process in collaboration with engineering, planning, HR, medical, nursing, and operational teams.
• Manage projects, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders while meeting timelines, budgets, and strategic objectives.
• Promote a culture of digital innovation, including training, change management, and organizational adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Systems Management, or a related field – required.
• Master’s degree – advantage.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Information Systems within a large healthcare or public organization.
• Proven experience leading complex digital transformation or greenfield implementation projects – strong advantage.
• Experience with healthcare systems such as EMR/EHR, PACS, LIS, medical BI, and ERP platforms.
• Strong familiarity with healthcare regulations, Ministry of Health standards, privacy laws, and information security requirements.
• Experience managing vendors, procurement processes, tenders, and contracts.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, organizational change management, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability, and high level of accountability.
