Backend Engineer

Repriced.ai is an AI-driven travel technology startup that automatically detects and rebooks hotel and flight reservations at lower prices. Our platform integrates with global suppliers and email systems to identify savings opportunities for users in real time.

We’re growing fast and looking for a Backend Engineer to join our growing team and help us build scalable, high-performance backend systems. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing our core services, integrating third-party systems, and improving reliability and performance across the platform.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with modern backend technologies and solving real-world scaling challenges.

Role Description

Take ownership of developing and maintaining backend services using Node.js.

Write automated tests for both new features and existing code to ensure reliability and stability.

Integrate and maintain third-party APIs including payment systems, email services, and SMS providers. Optimize application performance, scalability, and system efficiency.

Work extensively with MongoDB, Redis, and OpenSearch to manage data, caching, and search functionality.

Conduct code reviews and actively participate in technical discussions and architecture decisions. Refactor and improve the existing codebase to maintain high engineering standards and long-term maintainability.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience building production-grade backend applications with Node.js

Strong experience building REST APIs using Express.js (middleware, routing, architecture)

Experience working with MongoDB and Mongoose (aggregations, indexing, query optimization)

Experience using Redis for caching, pub/sub, and queue systems

Experience writing unit and integration tests (Mocha, Chai, Supertest or similar)

Strong Git workflow experience (branching, code reviews, merge requests)

Experience designing and integrating with third-party REST APIs

Advantage for experience with TypeScript and migrating JavaScript projects

Advantage for experience with GCP (Cloud Run, KMS, Cloud Storage)

Advantage for experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch (full-text search, indexing)

Advantage for experience with WebSockets or Socket.io
