Data Software Engineer

Cover is a fast-growing insurtech startup that leverages AI to make insurance accessible, transparent, and easy for individuals and businesses.

We’re looking for a Data Software Engineer to take full ownership of our data platform end-to-end. In this role, you will design, build, and manage our data warehouse and ingestion architecture, ensure data reliability and scalability, and develop internal data tools and dashboards that enable the company to operate on accurate, structured information.

What you’ll do:

• Design and own the architecture of our data warehouse, including schema design, modeling standards, and performance optimization.
• Build and maintain robust data pipelines that ingest data from internal systems and external APIs.
• Develop and manage ETL and ELT processes, ensuring data quality, monitoring, and reliability.
• Implement logging, testing, validation, and documentation standards for production-grade infrastructure.
• Work with cloud environments to deploy and scale data services.
• Build internal data views, dashboards, and lightweight tools using React when needed.
• Integrate AI-based capabilities where relevant to improve automation and decision support.

What we’re looking for:

• 2+ years of experience in Data Engineering, BI, or Backend Infrastructure roles.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, React, MySQL.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and working with APIs and backend services.
• Solid understanding of data modeling, warehouse design, and scalable architecture.
• Experience working in cloud environments and deploying production systems.
• Ability to think architecturally and build systems from scratch with full ownership.
