About the Role

The Mechanical Designer will be responsible for end-to-end mechanical design, translating system and customer requirements into robust, manufacturable mechanical solutions.

The role includes hands-on involvement across all design phases — from initial concept through detailed design, design reviews, and preparation for production.

The position requires close collaboration with Product Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams, ensuring that designs meet performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability targets, while complying with company procedures and industry standards.

This role is highly technical and practical in nature, combining strong CAD capabilities with a deep understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and metal manufacturing processes.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design in accordance with specifications, company procedures, and applicable standards
• Execute conceptual (preliminary) design and detailed design
• Prepare 3D models and documentation for the TDP (Technical Data Package) phase
• Lead Design Reviews (DRs) throughout all design stages
• Analyze and present alternative design solutions
• Address mechanical aspects, including strength, durability, reliability, and weight optimization
• Consider manufacturing aspects such as tolerances, cost, finishing, and aesthetics
• Control and transfer design outputs to the Product Engineering team
• Support and perform pre-production testing
• Guide and support draftsmen
• Review and approve technical drawings
• Implement customer requirements within the design
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the development process

Job Requirements

• Academic degree: Practical Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical Engineering Technician) from a recognized institution (Mechanical Engineer – advantage)
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Designer, including participation in a significant development project (at least 1,000 design hours)
• Proficiency in CAD software (CATIA – advantage)
• Familiarity with PLM systems (Teamcenter – significant advantage)
• Strong knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, including bending, cutting, welding, and machining
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team (coordination, reporting, providing and receiving professional feedback)
• Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously
• Ability to work under pressure (frequent changes, tight schedules), with a high level of independence, discipline, and self-learning capability
• Strong interpersonal skills, personal accountability, and sound decision-making abilities
• Fluent English (spoken and written)
