Unipaas is a global fintech company providing embedded payment services for software platforms, regulated in the UK by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as an Authorised Payment Institution. Our mission is to be the leading agentic payment company and the heartbeat of platforms’ payment services.

What you’ll do:

• Lead, mentor, and grow team of 10 engineers, driving a culture of ownership, accountability, and technical excellence.
• Take end-to-end ownership of products and components, from design through production and long-term maintenance.
• Drive the development of scalable, cloud-native microservices in a large-scale production environment.
• Set technical direction through architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
• Collaborate closely with Product teams to align engineering execution with business and product goals.
• Lead Agile planning and execution, ensuring predictable delivery and continuous improvement.
• Improve system performance, scalability, reliability, and testability across the stack.
• Lead and drive the adoption of AI-assisted development workflows across the R&D organization (Cursor, Claude Code), defining standards and best practices to improve delivery speed and code quality.

What we’re looking for:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant leadership roles.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred) at scale, Kubernetes orchestration, and messaging systems (RabbitMQ advantage).
• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js, TypeScript, and React.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring senior engineers and managing multiple teams.
• Proven success in architecting, deploying, and managing high-scale, high-availability production systems.
• Comfortable staying hands-on when needed.
