We are an innovative and fast-growing defense-technology company developing advanced solutions for counter-uncrewed and wireless threat environments. Our systems are operationally deployed and continuously evolving to address real-world challenges. This is a unique opportunity to join a company at a pivotal growth stage and play a meaningful role in shaping cutting-edge technologies, products, and research directions.
We are looking for a Research Communication Engineer to join our advanced communications research team. The role sits at the intersection of RF engineering, digital signal processing, and cybersecurity research, focusing on next-generation communication architectures for autonomous platforms, including drones and other wireless systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and analyze advanced wireless communication protocols, including drone data links, OFDM-based systems, and packet structures, with emphasis on identifying vulnerabilities and weaknesses.
- Develop innovative RF techniques for wireless communication disruption and resilience.
- Design, implement, and evaluate communication modules for short- and long-range systems.
- Analyze and optimize communication performance under various channel conditions, interference, and adversarial environments.
- Work with Wi-Fi and IEEE standards (e.g., 802.11, 802.15.1) and integrate them into custom communication architectures.
- Simulate and analyze cellular communication systems (GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G) for research and prototyping.
- Investigate cybersecurity aspects of wireless systems, including encryption, authentication, and protocol vulnerability analysis.
- Perform signal demodulation and decoding using RF front-end hardware and DSP algorithms.
- Conduct laboratory testing using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and software-defined radios.
- Develop analysis and simulation tools using Python and MATLAB, and work in Linux-based environments.
- Document research findings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across hardware, software, and security domains.
Required Qualifications
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Communication Systems, or a closely related field.
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of wireless communications, including modulation, coding, MIMO, and link adaptation.
- Hands-on experience with OFDM-based systems and cellular protocols (LTE, UMTS, GSM, or 5G NR).
- Solid background in RF systems, DSP, and baseband algorithm development.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as applied to wireless communication links.
- Experience with RF measurements and laboratory testing.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and Linux environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with drone communication systems or other mobile / autonomous platforms.
- Familiarity with SDR platforms such as USRP, HackRF, or similar.
- Experience with communication or network simulation tools (e.g., GNU Radio, NS-3).
- Background in embedded systems or real-time software development.
