Senior DevOps Engineer and developer for a start up

We are looking for a solo Senior DevOps Engineer to join a deep-tech company building complex multi disciplinary systems. Should have great inter-personal skills to collaborate within the R&D.

This role works closely with the development group and spans cloud, on-prem, and data/ML infrastructure.

Responsibilities

The role supports the dev group across three main domains:

1. Cloud Infrastructure (AWS)

Design, deploy, and maintain scalable cloud environments on AWS

Operate and optimize Kubernetes (EKS) and k3s

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation)

Monitoring, logging, security hardening, and cost optimization

2. On-Prem Deployment

Deploy and maintain Red Hat OpenShift clusters in on-prem environments

Strong Linux systems administration (RHEL-based)

Handle networking, storage, upgrades, and troubleshooting

Work closely with field teams on production deployments

3. Data & ML Infrastructure

Support ML training environments (GPU workloads, containers, scheduling)

Work with data pipelines and storage systems

Collaborate with ML and data engineers to enable reliable training and experimentation

Performance tuning and operational stability

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on DevOps / Infrastructure development experience

Background in infrastructure software development (system background or CI/CD alone is not sufficient)

Proven start up experience in production environments as a senior DevOps

(IDF experience alone is not sufficient)

Strong experience with:

AWS

Kubernetes (EKS, k8s); k3s – advantage

Linux (RHEL)

CI/CD pipelines

Experience with Red Hat OpenShift in on-prem deployments - is a plus

Familiarity with ML infrastructure and data engineering workflows - is a plus

Strong troubleshooting skills across distributed systems

Ability to take ownership of complex systems
