Ink Production Engineer

flō is a fast-moving tech startup based in Israel, developing breakthrough digital printing technology and sophisticated industrial equipment platforms for optical lens coatings. We are seeking an Ink Production Engineer to join our team. You will bridge the gap between innovation and scale-up by executing lab-scale ink production and leading the development of our pilot plant. As a key contributor, you will drive projects from concept to full production, facilitating the functional transition from R&D, assuming full ownership of ink production processes as they scale from pilot to full manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute hands-on production of ink formulations in the lab during the critical transition phase from R&D to pilot scale.
• Lead the transition of material formulations from lab-scale samples to pilot plant production.
• Pilot Design & Optimization: Design and build pilot-scale production lines, characterizing parameters to ensure consistency and stability of all liquid-phase coatings.
• Define production workflows, equipment requirements, and facility layout.
• Specify, source, and qualify production equipment.
• Lead scale-up from pilot to full-scale manufacturing.
• Standardization & Analysis: Develop validated SOPs for manufacturing and drying processes while analyzing data to drive continuous technical improvements.

Quality & Process Control

• Establish batch-to-batch consistency and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain documentation, batch records, and change control.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of proven hands-on experience taking a project from an idea to production within the chemistry or materials industry.
• Experience in industrial R&D or process development for coatings, inks, or functional polymers.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in chemical manufacturing processes, including mixing, filtration, and precision delivery systems.
• Proven ability to design and build experimental or pilot-scale setups.
• Working experience in multidisciplinary teams, including Chemistry, Mechanics, and Automation.

Soft Skills

• Highly collaborative team player with excellent technical communication skills in English.
• Agile mindset, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What Success Looks Like:

Pilot-scale ink production is operational and stable within 12 months.
