The Opportunity

We’re building an AI/ML-driven product for the construction sector to reduce costly errors and improve efficiency, focused on information-heavy workflows.

The startup is led by a founder with deep domain experience in construction execution.

This is an opportunity to build a missing intelligence layer the industry has struggled with for years - now finally solvable with evaluation-first engineering and measurable quality.

The Role

As CTO & Technical Co-Founder, you will define the technical vision and build the core product zero-to-one. This is a hands-on role: you will write code, ship the MVP/POC, establish engineering standards, and later hire and lead the first engineers as we scale.

What You’ll Build

- Data pipeline: ingestion, parsing, normalization, and structuring across complex inputs

- Hybrid approach: deterministic rules/constraints plus applied AI/ML where needed

- Evaluation framework: datasets, metrics, error taxonomy, regression tests, and quality gates

- Production backend: secure, scalable, observable services and APIs with cost awareness

Must-Have Requirements

- Hands-on builder with a track record shipping complex systems end-to-end into production

- Strong backend engineering (Python preferred) - APIs, databases, system design, data pipelines

- Applied AI/ML for working with structured and unstructured data, including information extraction and retrieval/RAG when needed

- Strong evaluation mindset: you can measure quality and improve it systematically

- Comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and true zero-to-one execution

Nice to Have

- Experience with layout/symbol/annotation understanding in complex documents (strong plus)

- Rule engines or constraint-based validation systems

- Ability to deploy and operate a small production-grade system (cloud basics, Docker, monitoring/observability)

- Basic full-stack ability for internal tools or demo UI

- Early-stage startup experience (founder or early hire)
