Senior Embedded / System Software Engineer

PLR Information Systems is looking for a Senior Embedded / System Software Engineer for a lead role, with a strong focus on embedded programming and system-level software, working on SoC-based DVR and Ethernet recording systems for defense and aerospace applications.

Role Focus:

• Lead development of embedded and system software for high-performance DVR platforms

• Design and implement data paths, drivers, and control software

• Work close to the hardware on SoC platforms (Ethernet, DDR, storage)

• Software bring-up on new hardware platforms

• Performance optimization for high-throughput data recording

• Define SW architecture and coding standards

• Collaborate closely with HW, QA, manufacturing, and system teams

Required Experience – Software / Embedded:

• Strong experience in C / C++

• Experience with Embedded Linux (kernel, drivers, user-space)

• Board/system bring-up from the software side

• Experience with networking stacks (Ethernet, TCP/IP)

• Experience with storage subsystems (file systems, block devices)

• Debug using JTAG, logs, and low-level tools

• Solid understanding of HW–SW interaction

Hardware Knowledge (Secondary but Important):

• Ability to read schematics and datasheets

• Understanding of SoC architecture, DDR, Ethernet, and storage interfaces

• Close collaboration with HW engineers

Strong Advantages:

• Experience with DVR / Data Recorder / DAQ systems

• High-speed data recording or streaming systems

• Defense / Aerospace background

• Experience leading technical architecture or mentoring engineers

• Familiarity with MIL-STD environments
