Program and Volunteer Operations Manager, Project Sunshine Israel
Scope: Part-time, approximately 25 hours per week
Employment status: Freelance
Location: Remote within Israel, with local travel to partner sites
Reports to: Chief Program Officer

For more than 25 years, the organization has brought the healing power of play to children with medical needs through trained volunteers in hospitals and community settings, reaching over 250,000 children and family members each year.
About Project Sunshine Israel:
Project Sunshine Israel is a small, high-impact program serving approximately 9,700 children and families annually through volunteer-led programming in pediatric hospitals and community-based settings. The program engages about 50 active volunteers, partners with leading hospitals and specialized educational institutions, and operates with support from Project Sunshine Inc. and a local Board of Directors, with opportunity for thoughtful growth over time.
The Position:
The Program and Volunteer Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Project Sunshine Israel’s programs and volunteer activities.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, suited to someone who enjoys coordinating people, managing logistics, maintaining systems, and ensuring smooth program delivery in a small nonprofit environment.
Key Responsibilities
Program and Partner Coordination
- Coordinate ongoing volunteer-led programs to ensure consistency and quality
- Serve as the primary point of contact for hospital and community partners
- Manage scheduling, logistics, and ongoing communication
- Collect partner feedback and flag operational needs
Volunteer Coordination
- Manage volunteer recruitment processes, onboarding, and training according to organizational guidelines
- Manage volunteer scheduling, attendance, and communication
- Provide ongoing support to ensure a positive volunteer experience
Operations and Administration
- Coordinate ordering, inventory, and distribution of program materials
- Track program-related expenses and submit documentation for reporting
- Maintain operational systems and records
Reporting and Coordination
- Track participation and basic program data using organizational systems
- Prepare operational updates and summaries as needed
- Support local storytelling and documentation in coordination with U.S. teams
Position Scope and Commitment
This is a part-time position (approximately 25 hours per week), aligned with the current scale and operational needs of Project Sunshine Israel. The role has a clear and stable scope, while offering potential for professional growth as organizational needs evolve. Given the ongoing nature of relationships with partners, volunteers, and programs, Project Sunshine Israel is seeking a candidate interested in a long-term professional commitment.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional experience in nonprofit operations, volunteer coordination, education, healthcare, or community work
- Experience managing volunteers and ongoing programs
- Strong organizational and administrative skills
- Ability to work independently and autonomously, while also collaborating effectively within a team
- Fluency in Hebrew and English (spoken and written)
- Comfort working with digital systems and online tools
- Strong connection to Project Sunshine’s mission
Additional Information
- Access to a vehicle and ability to travel locally are required
- Freelance engagement: invoicing required
