Senior Technical Writer

Role Description

We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer with a strong mechanical engineering background to join our team in a full-time, on-site role at our Ra’anana office.

This position focuses on creating and maintaining technical documentation for complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems in the defense domain, with a strong emphasis on disassembly, assembly, operation, and maintenance processes.

This role requires deep hands-on understanding of mechanical systems and close collaboration with mechanical engineers, system engineers, and field experts.

This position is not suitable for technical writers whose experience is limited to software, APIs, or IT systems.

• Author and maintain high-quality technical documentation for defense-related mechanical systems (Maintenance Manuals, Operation Manuals, IETMs, Technical Instructions)

Document detailed procedures for:

• Disassembly and assembly
• System operation
• Preventive and corrective maintenance

Interpret and work directly with:

• Mechanical drawings
• Schematics
• Engineering specifications

Collaborate closely with:

• Mechanical engineers
• Development and systems teams
• Manufacturing and maintenance personnel
• Ensure technical accuracy, clarity, consistency, and compliance with relevant military and industry standards

• Proven experience as a technical writer for mechanical, electro-mechanical, or physical systems
• Strong knowledge and hands-on understanding of mechanics and hydraulics – mandatory
• Demonstrated experience writing documentation for maintenance, operation, and assembly processes
• Ability to understand mechanical assemblies, subsystems, tolerances, and failure modes
• Experience working directly with engineers and subject matter experts
• Native-level English or equivalent professional fluency (written and spoken)
• Exceptional attention to technical detail and accuracy

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
• Experience in the defense industry or with military systems
• Familiarity with field maintenance and operational environments
• Ability to read, understand, and work with CAD models and technical drawings
• Experience writing documentation in accordance with military or defense standards
