Director of Engineering

We’re looking for an Engineering Director to lead a growing engineering team through a phase of significant scale and transformation. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management: you’ll lead engineers both in-house and offshore, partner closely with senior leadership, and help deliver a reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient Customer Intelligence & Decisioning platform.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll be deeply involved in architecture design and technical reviews, while also setting standards, building processes, coaching engineers, and ensuring strong cross-team collaboration.

Team Leadership & Growth

• Manage, mentor, and grow a team of in-house and offshore engineers
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and accountability
• Set and maintain high standards for engineering practices and delivery
• Establish effective communication and delivery rhythms across cross-functional teams

Hands-On Technical Leadership

• Lead and contribute to design, coding, and reviews across platform, backend, data, and ML engineering
• Guide architectural decisions to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Support significant customer and data growth
• Ensure strong engineering standards, CI/CD practices, and system observability

Production Ownership & Execution

• Own production end-to-end, including on-call, SLOs, observability, incident response, and postmortems
• Own delivery timelines and release cadence
• Coordinate execution between core and offshore engineering teams
• Balance short-term feature delivery with long-term technical health and cost optimization

Collaboration

• Work closely with the CTO and Product leadership on architecture, integrations, and security
• Partner with Product on roadmap prioritization and execution
• Align engineering delivery with the company’s mid- to long-term vision
• Ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing collaboration with customer-facing teams

• 4+ years of experience managing a software engineering team
• Proven ability to combine people management with a hands-on technical leadership role
• Experience leading in-house and offshore teams
• Strong background in cloud-based, data-intensive environments and data pipeline design
• Experience working with production Machine Learning systems, including MLOps practices
• End-to-end production ownership: CI/CD, observability, on-call, incident response, and postmortems
• Ability to balance rapid feature delivery with long-term platform stability, scalability, and cost
• Comfortable partnering closely with CTO-level leadership and Product with high autonomy and impact

• Strong backend experience (Python and/or Scala)
• AWS experience and operating ML systems in production (registries, monitoring, rollback)
• Track record building and operating high-scale systems
• Experience with data platforms, personalization, or decisioning systems
• Familiarity with platform development (TypeScript / React)
• Background in ML model productionization and lifecycle management
• Experience with privacy-by-design principles and compliance-driven delivery
