VP of R&D

A fast-growing, well-funded SaaS company is seeking an experienced and visionary VP of R&D to join its executive leadership team and lead the company’s global technology organization during a phase of significant scale and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and scale a global R&D organization encompassing Backend, Frontend, Cloud, DevOps, and QA.
• Define and execute the company’s R&D, architecture, and technology strategy in alignment with business growth and product vision.
• Build, mentor, and manage senior engineering leaders and managers, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, and ownership.
• Oversee the full SaaS product lifecycle – from ideation and architecture through development, deployment, and large-scale production.
• Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of modern development methodologies (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, quality-by-design).
• Ensure the delivery of scalable, secure, high-availability cloud-based solutions using advanced technologies.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Operations, and executive leadership to translate business goals into technical execution.
• Champion engineering best practices, process optimization, and technical excellence across the organization.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (M.Sc. – an advantage).
• 10+ years of software development experience, including 5+ years in senior R&D leadership roles.
• Proven experience leading large-scale SaaS R&D organizations in high-growth technology companies.
• Demonstrated success managing managers and leading global, cross-functional teams of 50+ engineers.
• Strong background in B2B SaaS platforms, cloud-native architectures, scalability, and high-performance systems.
• Hands-on experience with advanced technologies and modern engineering stacks.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, security, reliability, and scalability.
• Strong ability to define and implement development methodologies, engineering processes, and operational excellence.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to connect technology decisions to business impact.
