Job description
We’re looking for a Head of R&D to lead the engineering of a fast-growing Big Data startup operating in the defense & security domain.
This is not a managerial-only role.
You will design, code, review, and build - while leading a small, elite R&D team.
What you’ll actually do:
🔸Own the end-to-end R&D architecture and technical direction
🔸Stay deeply hands-on - backend, data, and system design
🔸Build and scale Big Data pipelines using AWS & Apache Spark
🔸Lead backend development in Java and frontend in React
🔸Deliver secure, mission-critical systems for real-world defense use
Job requirementsWe’re looking for someone who:
🔸Has 10+ years in senior hands-on engineering roles
🔸Has proven AWS experience (must-have)
🔸Brings strong Big Data & Spark background
🔸Is comfortable coding daily in Java and reviewing frontend (React)
🔸Has worked in startup or scale-up environments
🔸Advantage: experience in Defense / HLS / Gov-tech
