Data Engineering Team Lead

I-Next Data, the revolutionary data science center of Tel Aviv Medical Center, is looking for an outstanding Data Engineering Team Lead to join our unique A-team. Our center builds AI models and develops innovative data solutions that support doctors and medical teams across all Ichilov departments, using EMR data, imaging data, real-time streams, and advanced data-driven insights. We collaborate with leading global medical organizations and digital health companies, working directly with physicians, scientists, and researchers to deliver high-impact engineering solutions where it truly matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers.
• Design, build, and guide the development of scalable, cloud-native data pipelines and services.
• Own the team’s technical roadmap and drive architecture, tooling, methodologies, and delivery standards.
• Lead complex engineering initiatives involving diverse clinical data sources and sensitive data workflows.
• Define and implement best practices to ensure data quality, system reliability, performance, and observability.
• Work closely with product managers, hospital clinical users, and cross-functional teams to translate real clinical needs into robust data and backend implementations.
• Promote professional growth, technical excellence, and a culture of ownership within the team.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in team management or technical leadership.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and/or backend development.
• Strong proficiency in Python. • Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS preferred).
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud-native development.
• Strong SQL skills; experience with NoSQL or streaming platforms is an advantage.
• Experience designing and operating production data pipelines and ETLs.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects end-to-end, ideally in a fast-paced or startup-like environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
