Vice President of Product Management

One of our clients, a company focused on developing complex, distributed software systems with high reliability and scalability requirements, operates in the U.S. market and is growing rapidly.

The company is entering an accelerated scale-up phase and is seeking a senior VP Product, a member of the executive leadership team, to lead product strategy and execution across large-scale core software platforms.

This is a distinctly technical product leadership role, intended for a candidate with a strong software engineering background, who has previously held roles such as Software Architect, Engineering Manager, or Development Lead, and later transitioned into senior product leadership.

Role Overview

The VP Product is responsible for the full lifecycle of the company’s software products — from defining product vision and strategy to leading execution and scale across complex software platforms.

The role includes leading and developing a team of Product Managers, and working in close partnership with engineering leadership to ensure product strategy is grounded in technical realities and delivered effectively.

The role requires strong technical depth and system-level understanding, enabling high-quality product decisions, effective prioritization, and meaningful engagement with engineering — while engineering ownership, system architecture, and day-to-day development execution remain with the Engineering organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Full ownership of product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the company’s core software platforms.
• Lead, mentor, and scale a team of Product Managers, setting clear standards for execution, documentation, and decision-making.
• Translate business and operational goals into clear product direction that is technically grounded and execution-ready.
• Partner closely with engineering leadership on planning, scoping, and sequencing of cross-team initiatives.
• Ensure alignment between product intent and engineering delivery across backend, platform, data, and integration layers.
• Own core platform domains including APIs, data models, system workflows, pricing, catalogs, content pipelines, and third-party integrations.
• Drive data-informed prioritization, performance optimization, and platform scalability.
• Ensure high-quality user experience and robust internal operational tooling.
• Act as a senior product leader influencing company-wide product and technology decisions.

Requirements

• Strong academic and professional background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Proven experience leading a technical product organization and managing Product Managers.
• Significant prior experience in software development — as a Software Engineer, Architect, Engineering Manager, or Technical Lead.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, and data-driven platforms.
• Demonstrated experience partnering closely with engineering leadership and navigating complex technical tradeoffs.
