Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Backend AI Systems Engineer to help productize, scale, and operate LLM-powered backend services in production. This role is backend engineering first, with a focus on building reliable, observable, and scalable AI services. This is a hybrid role with in-person collaboration in our Israel office.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate LLM-backed backend services used in core Sojo Shield workflows.
• Develop and maintain APIs that expose AI capabilities to internal and customer-facing systems.
• Productize prompt-based and agent-based workflows using modern LLM frameworks.
• Implement evaluation, monitoring, and observability for AI systems in production.
• Integrate AI services into existing backend architecture and data pipelines. • Collaborate closely with product, platform, and data teams to ship AI features end-to-end.
• Continuously improve system robustness through retries, fallbacks, testing, and metrics.
• Stay current with modern LLM tooling and apply it pragmatically to real production problems.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering.
• Strong experience building production backend services in Python.
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs (REST, async services).
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs into real systems, including prompt workflows and inference.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals: reliability, observability, performance.
• Ability to work with large, real-world datasets and operational systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a product-oriented mindset.

Preferred Skills

• FastAPI (or similar Python backend frameworks).
• LLM frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, MCP / fastMCP.
• Experience working with Claude and/or other frontier LLMs.
• Observability tooling: OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Kibana, Sentry.
• LLM evaluation and quality tooling: LangSmith, TruLens.
• Event-driven or asynchronous systems.
• Experience operating AI systems at scale in production.
• Familiarity with supply chain, logistics, or industrial data.
