Mechanical Design Engineer – Micro-Turbines

We are a young and ambitious deep-tech startup developing micro-turbines for propulsion and onboard power generation, operating in a fast-paced, hands-on R&D environment.

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with real-world design experience, who enjoys intensive development work, takes ownership, and is comfortable working close to hardware and tests.

🔧 Role Description

Mechanical design and development of micro-turbines and Turbomachinery

Design of shafts, housings, bearings, seals, and precision mechanical parts

Preparation of detailed manufacturing drawings and design release

Hands-on involvement in assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and rapid design iterations based on test results

Close collaboration with system, manufacturing, and test teams

Support mechanical trade-offs: performance, durability, cost, and manufacturability

Support propulsion-system, onboard power, and airborne integration aspects, including packaging, mechanical interfaces, mounts, inlet/exhaust integration, thermal management, and test integration

Apply thermo-mechanical considerations, including thermal loads, thermal growth/expansion, cooling/heat rejection concepts, and their impact on tolerances, fits, and reliability

🎯 Requirements (Must-Have)

B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering

Minimum 4 years of proven experience in mechanical design (hands-on design role)

Solid experience in mechanical design of assemblies and parts, from concept to prototypes and design release

Practical understanding of loads, tolerances, fits, materials

Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks / NX / CATIA or similar)

Hands-on mindset with the ability to move between CAD, workshop, and lab

High motivation and willingness to work in an intensive startup environment

Good technical English

Experience with power transmission systems, gear trains, shafts, and bearings

Background in rotating machinery or Turbomachinery

Familiarity with fluid flow processes or practical fluid mechanics

Experience working close to hardware, test setups, or experimental systems

Understanding of propulsion systems and gas-turbine thermodynamics

Familiarity with thermo-mechanical design considerations such as thermal expansion, heat transfer basics, high-temperature materials, insulation, and cooling concepts
