Senior Backend Lead - Game Development

The Role We are looking for a heavy-hitting Technical Expert to join our backend team. This is a high-impact, hands-on role for a developer who cares deeply about system architecture, building high-performance systems, and driving business impact.

You will act as a primary technical resource, helping us deliver faster and grow the business. As the Senior Backend Lead, you will work closely with our CTO, Product team, and Head of Backend Development to architect, build, and scale the server infrastructure that powers our games. You will lead the implementation of real-time multiplayer features, manage database performance, and ensure high availability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance game backends.
• Build and enhance tools for administrative purposes and game monitoring.
• Triage and fix production incidents, ensuring uptime and stability.
• Monitor system health and performance to proactively identify issues.
• Lead efforts to debug and resolve complex technical issues.
• Provide mentorship and code reviews to elevate the team's engineering standards
• Identify bottlenecks in the current stack and re-engineer them for lower latency and better stability.
• Collaborate with game designers to translate complex gameplay requirements into robust backend logic.

Requirements

• 5+ years of .NET development experience.
• Expertise in Web API ASP.NET Core and .NET 7+.
• Proven experience with Monolithic and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) development.
• Deep understanding of AWS and its services.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement high-load, scalable backend architectures.
• Proficiency with NoSQL databases and related technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and WebSockets.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and Entity Framework.
• Skilled in containerization and orchestration using Docker.
• Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the gaming industry or developing gaming-related platforms.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Knowledge of other cloud platforms or cross-cloud integrations.
