Backend team leader

A startup company in the quantum computing domain, developing a unique technology for building a Photonic Quantum Computer based on laser-based photon–atom gates, enabling processing of over one million qubits.

The company has raised tens of millions of dollars, including an extended Seed round and Series A.

Located in central Israel near a train line, offers a hybrid work model with one work-from-home day, employs dozens of people, and is in a rapid growth phase.

The role includes:

• Building and leading the company’s software domain
• Integration with quantum computing systems
• Working with Firmware and Embedded systems
• Direct reporting to the VP of R&D
• Designing and developing system architecture from scratch
• Backend development in Python, including APIs
• Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and software infrastructure
• Close collaboration with physicists, hardware engineers, and scientists in a multidisciplinary environment

Qualifications-

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, with hands-on experience in Python
• Experience as Tech Lead / Staff Engineer / Principal Engineer
• Proven track record building multi-threaded/multi-services backends.
• Proficiency in a modern front-end framework
• Experience developing SW for IoT/Hardware systems - advantage
• Proven experience in system architecture – mandatory
