Company Overview
Teramount is an innovative growth company in the field of silicon photonics, solving a major obstacle for the next-generation data center for co-packaged switches.
Job Overview
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong process and automation orientation to support the transition of high-precision opto-mechanical products from development to scalable manufacturing. This role focuses on designing robust assembly processes, implementing automation solutions, and ensuring repeatable, high-quality production in cleanroom environments. You will work closely with R&D and production teams to solve complex engineering challenges and enable reliable mass production of optical assemblies.
What you will be doing
- Develop, optimize, and document high-precision opto-mechanical assembly processes from pilot to mass production
- Lead and support automation initiatives, including Pick & Place systems, adhesive dispensing, and automated screwing solutions
- Design, validate, and release jigs, fixtures, and tooling for optical assemblies, including fiber ribbon to optical plug integration in cleanroom environments
- Define and control process parameters for epoxy and optical adhesive applications, ensuring repeatability and yield
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and process-related issues, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Ensure processes are scalable, robust, and production-ready, with a clear focus on quality, cost, and throughput
- Work closely with R&D, NPI, and Production to transfer designs into stable, manufacturable processes
What we need to see
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering – required
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical/process engineering roles
- Proven experience with opto-mechanical assemblies, tight tolerances, and precision alignment
- Demonstrated background in automation and process engineering, including P&P systems, dispensing technologies, and optical assemblies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, combined with a hands-on mindset
- Familiarity with automotive-grade or high-reliability manufacturing standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 10110) – advantage
- Excellent English communication skills
Ways to stand out
- Direct experience taking optical or opto-mechanical products from prototype to high-volume manufacturing
- Hands-on ownership of automation projects—from concept and vendor selection to validation and ramp-up
- Deep understanding of adhesives in optical systems (material selection, curing, aging, failure modes)
- Experience working in or setting up cleanroom production environments
- A pragmatic engineering approach: knowing when to push for innovation and when to favor simplicity and robustness
- Ability to influence cross-functional teams
