HiOctave is building the customer experience platform for small businesses - from local service providers to growing e-commerce brands. These are businesses where every customer interaction matters, but the team is too lean to staff a traditional support operation.

We're seed-funded by Khosla Ventures and building a small, focused team in the early stages of a massive market shift.

The Role

We're looking for a Product Designer to lead the end-to-end experience - from first touch through daily use - and to be the first and owner building our UX playbook. This is a PLG product, which means the product is the growth engine. Your work directly shapes acquisition, activation, and retention.

You'll be designing the systems that help small business owners confidently delegate customer relationships to AI - building trust, providing control, and making powerful technology feel intuitive for people running their business, not managing software.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience designing software products at global product companies
• Experience in PLG environments - you understand activation metrics, self-serve onboarding, and how design decisions impact conversion
• Experience with AI products - conversational interfaces, AI transparency, and helping users understand and control AI behavior
• Comfort working in early-stage environments where scope is fluid and speed matters
• Deep product and business instincts - you think beyond the interface to understand how design decisions impact unit economics, retention, and growth
• High proficiency with modern AI tools for rapid prototyping, validation, and design iteration

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with designing for small business users - genuine empathy for operators juggling multiple roles with limited time
• Experience with customer experience, support, or related tools

You'll be shaping how small businesses interact with AI during a pivotal moment - when the relationship between business owners and automation is still being defined. You'll work directly with the founding team and drive the product experience during the highest-leverage phase of the company.
