Job Description

NovoDia is hiring a Special Education Transition Curriculum Writer to create Functional Financial Math curriculum for a Washington district partner.

You will use NovoDia’s curriculum writing tool to draft lesson materials quickly, then apply your expertise to revise and finalize them into teacher ready lessons.

This engagement includes two pilots:

• High school Special Education functional math, semester scope (about 90 lessons)
• Adult transition program ages 18 to 22, quarter scope (about 20 lessons)

The content focuses on foundational numeracy through real world financial skills (paychecks, budgeting, banking, debit and digital payments), with strong accessibility supports. No visual design work is required.

Deliverables

• A course outline
• A consistent lesson format
• Standards mapping,
• Lesson plans
• Activity writeups (teacher directions and student facing text only)

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the lesson format so all lessons follow the same structure
• Build the course outline and any required standards mapping
• Draft and refine lessons, then strengthen for accuracy, clear steps, and accessibility supports
• Collaborate in review cycles and revise quickly to meet milestones

Requirements

• Experience in Special Education transition and functional academics (high school and or ages 18 to 22)
• Strong functional financial math knowledge (banking, paychecks, budgeting, debit, cash and making change)
• Proven curriculum writing experience: course outline plus daily lessons
• Experience creating lesson templates and keeping quality consistent across a full course
• Ability to align content to required standards and produce standards mapping when needed (Washington preferred)
• Experience writing for accessibility needs (low reading level materials, multiple entry points, communication supports)
• Community based instruction experience or strong real world generalization mindset
• Reliable, clear writer who can deliver on deadlines and iterate based on feedback
