R&D Director

A startup developing an innovative communication platform that includes three main categories: email, chat, and video, serving both private and business customers.

Located in central Tel Aviv (near the light rail), the company operates from its offices and currently employs around 10 people. The platform already has hundreds of thousands of paying customers and is experiencing significant growth.

The role involves leading and managing all development teams, reporting directly to the CTO. The Head of Development is responsible for overseeing 8–10 employees, including 4 developers in Israel (among them team leads) and 4 developers abroad. Responsibilities include recruiting and training new employees and building teams to support future growth.

Role overview -

• Leads and manages all development teams, reporting directly to the CTO.
• Oversees 8–10 employees, including 4 developers in Israel (among them team leads) and 4 developers abroad.
• Responsible for recruiting and training new employees and building teams to support future growth.
• Initially approximately 40% hands-on, involving Full Stack development with Node.js and TypeScript, alongside some Python and Go.
• Develops UI/UX interfaces using JavaScript.
• Works with cloud technologies and builds scalable architectures.
• Integrates AI tools into development processes and the product.

Requirements-

• 3–4 years of experience in startup environments.
• Proven experience managing teams of 7–15 employees.
• Experience with AI, ML, or LLM technologies.
• Full Stack development with Node.js required; experience with Go is an advantage.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure.
• Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree required.
