About the Role:

As a Data Engineer at Sheba, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructures that bring together information from multiple clinical and operational systems. You will ensure the accuracy, reliability, and availability of data that supports real-time medical decision-making and drives improvements in patient care.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Collaborating directly with medical management and department heads to understand their unique data needs and challenges.

• Building and optimizing scalable data pipelines, transforming heterogeneous data sources into structured, high-quality datasets.

• Ensuring data interoperability, governance, and alignment with healthcare data standards across platforms.

• Integrating and optimizing existing systems while ensuring data accuracy, performance, and reliability.

• Participating in cross-functional teams, working alongside top technological experts and medical professionals to bring ideas to life.

• Staying updated on the latest developments in data technologies and healthcare analytics to suggest and implement innovative solutions.

Responsibilities (Data Engineer):

• Build, maintain, and scale data pipelines to support real-time and batch processing.

• Integrate multiple internal and external data sources into a unified, well-structured data model.

• Ensure data quality, consistency, observability, and lineage across all systems.

• Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and clinical teams to deliver high-quality data that improves decision-making.

• Implement best practices in data engineering, including ETL/ELT, schema design, and data lifecycle management.

• Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to maintain data reliability and transparency.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of meaningful experience in data engineering or full-stack/backend development with strong data responsibilities.

• Proficient in SQL and familiar with SQL/NoSQL database technologies.

• Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, Airflow, Spark, or similar tools.

• Strong development skills in one or more backend languages (Python, .NET, Java, NodeJS, etc.).

• Team player with an excellent attitude: we hire people who want to make a difference.

• Experience with Cloud technologies, Serverless, K8s, IAM, and VPC.

• Loves product work and owning tasks end-to-end — before and after they go live.

Nice to Have (Advantages):

• Experience with modern Pub/Sub technologies — Redis, Kafka.

• Experience connecting and transforming data from multiple medical systems (EHR, imaging systems, hospital operational systems, etc.).

• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
