Design System Designer - Complex Systems (MedTech & More)

About the role

You’ll focus on building and maintaining design systems that support complex software products and interactive education and marketing tools (apps and tools, simulators, gamified explainers) for leading tech companies in healthcare and beyond.

Many of these are on-prem, device-connected, or workstation/console experiences. You’ll take ownership of detailed UI patterns and component libraries, ensuring consistency, clarity, and usability across multiple products and teams. You’ll work as part of a small, focused team that collaborates closely across design, development, and strategy.

What you’ll do

• Define and maintain scalable design system components that support complex product features
• Translate ambiguous or loosely defined requirements into clear, reusable patterns
• Work with product owners, system engineers, and senior designers to bring consistency across high-density workflows and technical interfaces
• Document interaction behavior, states, and usage guidelines in Figma so teams can implement with confidence
• Support interactive education experiences (simulators, explainers, demo tools) with structured UI foundations
• Be client-facing when needed: gather requirements, present rationale, and manage feedback loops
• Collaborate asynchronously with US-based clients, keeping communication tight and stakeholders unblocked

What you’ll bring (minimum)

• A portfolio demonstrating UI design craft, component creation, and system thinking
• Experience building or contributing to a design system (even at a smaller scale)
• Strong proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, and documentation
• Ability to learn fast and get up to speed on unfamiliar technical domains
• High professionalism: reliability, clarity in communication, and consistent delivery
• Excellent English and strong self-management across multiple tasks or projects

Nice to have

• HMI / embedded UI design experience
• UX/UI work on Electrophysiology (EP) software or other complex technical systems
• Gaming UX/UI background
• Strong graphic / illustration skills
• Experience contributing to or organizing larger-scale design systems
• Client-facing communication skills

What this role is not

• Not marketing websites or e‑commerce.
• Not basic admin dashboards/CRUD apps.
• Not a senior/lead role.
• Not a fit if accountability and proactive communication in a flexible schedule are challenging for you.
