Senior Data Engineer

Harmoniz - The Art of Seed Innovation is a global agtech company specializing in breeding greenhouse seeds. . The company is focused on developing innovative, great-tasting, and virus-resistant tomatoes, expanding into pepper and cucumber seed development.

Main Role Purpose: 

To design, implement, and operate a serverless-first data platform that powers our greenfield AI-driven Agri-Tech platform. The role leads the creation of the Data Control Tower, orchestrates data pipelines and pre-processing workloads, and ensures the platform is scalable, cost-efficient, and secure for all analytics and ML operations

Responsibilities:

• Architect and build a cloud-native, serverless-first data platform on Azure or AWS, supporting tabular, unstructured, and graph data.
• Design and operate the Data Control Tower – data-quality rules, lineage, metadata, anomaly detection, observability (logs / metrics / tracing), and SLA management.
• Develop and maintain pre-processing infrastructure and workloads for ingestion, transformation, feature and embedding generation.
• Engineer for redundancy, scalability, and resilience, using autoscaling, multi-AZ deployments, and disaster-recovery policies (RTO/RPO).
• Implement proactive cost-management / FinOps practices – tiered storage, caching, budget alerts, right-sizing.
• Package and serve ML models and datasets as versioned, secure APIs and services in partnership with Data Science and Full-Stack teams.
• Establish CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, CloudFormation); enforce IAM, secrets management, and private network connectivity.
• Uphold SOC-aligned security and compliance practices throughout the data lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• At least 7 years of experience building and operating modern data platforms on Azure or AWS.
• Expertise in serverless-first architectures (Functions/Lambda, Glue/Data Factory, Event Hubs/Kinesis) and lakehouse frameworks (Delta, Iceberg, Hudi).
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with distributed processing experience (Spark / PySpark).
• Experience with data-quality & lineage frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations / Deequ) and graph models (Gremlin / Cypher).
• Hands-on expertise in CI/CD and IaC, networking, security, and cost optimization.
• Excellent collaboration skills and fluent communication in Hebrew and English.
