The Head of the International Relations Unit leads Bar-Ilan University’s international strategy and strengthens its global presence through collaborations, academic partnerships, and international programs.

The role includes managing and leading the department team responsible for recruiting international research students, maintaining international research partnerships, and coordinating exchange programs, events, and incoming/outgoing delegations.

The manager serves as the central hub for international activity on campus, connecting academic staff, administration, and global partners to promote the University’s international vision—both in Israel and worldwide. The position includes frequent international travel.

Job Responsibilities:

• Leading and coordinating the implementation of Bar-Ilan University’s international strategy.
• Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with universities, research institutions, and organizations worldwide.
• Managing and coordinating the department team in the areas of recruitment, research partnerships, and international programs.
• Managing student and staff exchange programs, including Erasmus+ and additional mobility programs.
• Advising academic and administrative staff on international agreements, collaborations, and best practices.
• Serving as the primary liaison with existing and new international partners.
• Promoting internationalization on campus through awareness and intercultural activities.
• Representing Bar-Ilan University in international forums, consortia, and events.
• International travel to strengthen partnerships and develop new global initiatives.
• Executing additional projects and tasks according to departmental needs and supervisors’ directives.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in International Relations, Education, or a related field. A PhD is an advantage.
• At least 7 years of experience in international higher education, global partnerships, or academic administration.
• Proven experience in leading teams and managing international programs such as Erasmus+, exchanges, and delegations.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and intercultural skills.
• Strategic, collaborative, and globally oriented managerial approach.
• Excellent command of English; proficiency in Hebrew or willingness to learn is an advantage.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally as part of the position.
• Knowledge and experience in using artificial intelligence (AI) — an advantage.
• Commitment and ability to work from home as required by supervisors.
• Compatibility with the University’s unique character, values, and mission.
