About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Hardware & Embedded Systems Group Manager to lead the design and development of Elspec’s next generation of precision power quality analyzers and metering systems.

This role combines deep analogue and digital hardware design expertise with strong embedded firmware understanding and system-level engineering leadership.

The Hardware & Embedded Group Manager will oversee multidisciplinary teams developing hardware and firmware architectures, ensuring high performance, reliability, and manufacturability across all Elspec metering products.

Responsibilities

• Translate business and marketing requirements into clear, system-level technical requirements for hardware and embedded development.
• Lead and manage the Hardware and Embedded Firmware teams, including analogue, digital, and embedded engineers.
• Own end-to-end system architecture for hardware and embedded layers across all Elspec products.
• Oversee seamless integration between firmware, hardware, and software, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
• Ensure design compliance with international standards for accuracy, EMC, and safety.
• Drive continuous improvement in analogue front-end design, high-resolution ADC performance, and embedded control algorithms.
• Maintain and evolve core proprietary technologies, including Elspec’s compression algorithm (PQZIP) and embedded signal processing frameworks.
• Collaborate closely with the Software Group Manager and R&D Manager on cross-domain architecture and system requirements.
• Supervise design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-testability (DFT) processes in cooperation with NPI and production teams.
• Mentor and develop engineers to build strong Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in analogue, DSP, and embedded systems.
• Ensure comprehensive documentation, version control, and traceability throughout the design and validation process.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and innovation within the group.

Education and Required Experience

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline (advanced degree preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in development of embedded electronic systems, combining hardware and firmware.
• At least 5 years in a leadership role managing multidisciplinary R&D teams (HW + FW).
• Proven track record in analog and mixed-signal design, microcontroller- or DSP-based embedded systems, and firmware-hardware integration.
• Hands-on experience with power quality instrumentation, industrial electronics, or measurement systems — strong advantage.
• Solid background in hardware verification, validation, and embedded software testing.
• Familiarity with design-for-manufacturing (DFM), new product introduction (NPI), and production transfer.

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong system-level mindset — ability to architect, analyze, and optimize complete HW–FW systems.
• Excellent knowledge of embedded platforms, real-time firmware development, and analogue/digital interfacing.
• Deep understanding of high-resolution ADCs, low-noise analogue circuits, and signal-conditioning techniques.
• Practical familiarity with digital signal processing concepts and implementation.
• Experience with compliance standards (IEC 61000-4-30, IEC 61010, or equivalent).
• Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of guiding multidisciplinary engineers.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to documentation and knowledge retention.
• Passionate about innovation, problem-solving, and delivering reliable, high-performance designs.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
