Job Description

NovoDia is hiring a Grade 5 Science Curriculum Writer to develop a fifth grade science resource for our district partner, Catawba County Schools.

You will use NovoDia’s curriculum writing tool to draft lesson materials efficiently, then apply your expertise to revise and finalize them into teacher ready, classroom implementable materials.

The primary user is a Grade 5 teacher, so the curriculum must be clear, structured, and easy to implement, with strong guidance for instruction, checks for understanding, and assessments. Lessons should fit 45 minute instructional blocks and include integrated Spanish supports for multilingual learners.

Deliverables

• A spring semeste course outline
• Standards mapping
• A consistent lesson format
• Lesson plans
• Activity writeups (teacher directions and student facing text only)
• Assessments
• Student facing materials with integrated Spanish support
• Localized lesson elements using relevant local context and examples

Responsibilities

• Build the scope and sequence and complete the required standards alignment
• Define and maintain a consistent lesson format across the curriculum
• Draft and refine lessons, strengthening for accuracy, clarity, and accessibility supports (common accommodations such as LD, ADHD)
• Provide fast, accurate, practical feedback on lesson drafts (instructional flow, pacing, clarity, and feasibility)
• Integrate Spanish supports for multilingual learners across student facing materials
• Collaborate in review cycles with NovoDia and district feedback, revising quickly to meet milestones
• Support PD preparation as needed (scope and format to be defined with NovoDia)

Requirements

• Recent experience teaching upper elementary science (Grade 5 or adjacent)
• Strong classroom judgment and ability to give fast, accurate, practical feedback on lessons
• Familiarity with standards alignment workflows (preferred)
• Experience supporting multilingual learners (Spanish support preferred)
• Spanish proficiency (preferred, not required)
• Experience writing checks for understanding and grading ready assessments
• Curriculum writing experience (preferred, not required)
• Reliable, clear writer who can deliver on deadlines and iterate based on feedback
