Autonomous Systems Engineer

🚀 We’re hiring at Formic Robotics

Formic Robotics is building agentic autonomy for drones — world-model-driven systems that can reason, explore, and operate in complex, GPS-denied environments.

We’re opening three core technical roles:

1️⃣ Computer Vision Engineer

Work on large-scale real-world computer vision challenges on robotic platforms deployed in mission critical setting.

You’ll work on:

• Image understanding
• Learned embeddings, retrieval, and probabilistic reasoning
• High-performance CV & DL pipelines (PyTorch / C++)

Background in CV, metric learning, or large-scale retrieval is a big plus.

2️⃣ World Model & Reinforcement Learning Engineer

Design the brain of autonomous agents.

You’ll work on:

• World models for perception, memory, and planning
• Reinforcement learning for active exploration and decision-making
• Multi-agent and embodied AI in simulation for real systems

Strong background in RL, representation learning, or model-based AI preferred.

3️⃣ SLAM / 3D Reconstruction Engineer

Build consistent spatial understanding from onboard sensors.

You’ll work on:

• Visual / multi-sensor SLAM (monocular, multi-camera, visual-inertial)
• 3D reconstruction, mapping, and uncertainty handling
• Bridging geometry with learning for robust real-world deployment

Experience with SLAM, geometry, sensor fusion, complex sensor calibration and large-scale mapping is a strong plus.
