Technical Manager

A leading defense company located in the Be’er Yaakov area is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead end-to-end mechanical development for complex electro-mechanical ground systems, as part of a multi-year strategic program, including work with customers in Israel and abroad.

Role Description

• Lead end-to-end mechanical design and development of complex ground-based systems.
• Develop containment fixtures, air and ground transportation platforms, slings, and supporting mechanical systems.
• Develop, refurbish, and deliver operational, weighted, and test containers.
• Lead ground development tests for design verification (planning, execution, and analysis).
• Develop dedicated test systems, including nitrogen-based test equipment and heating systems, including full design validation.
• Manage the full mechanical development lifecycle:
• Requirements definition → preliminary design → drawing approval → engineering analyses → development tests → prototype build → approval for serial production.
• Work closely with internal engineering teams, subcontractors in Israel and abroad, manufacturing, testing, procurement, and finance.
• Manage schedules, budgets, risks, and follow-up on action items.
• Prepare technical documentation and lead bi-weekly program status reviews.
• Provide ongoing support for mechanical anomalies discovered in production lines, maintenance activities, and operational systems.
• Occasional international travel for design reviews, tests, and customer meetings.

Mandatory Requirements

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering - mandatory.
• At least 5 years of proven experience in mechanical design and development within defense, heavy industrial, or automated system environments.
• Proven engineering experience in:
• Writing system and mechanical requirements documents
• Specification approval
• Leading design reviews (PDR / CDR)
• Managing mechanical products throughout development.
• Proven experience leading and approving mechanical engineering activities across all disciplines, including:
• Engineering analyses approval
• Test requirement definition
• Test plan approval
• TRR / DRR / QLR approvals.
• Strong experience with CAD systems such as SolidWorks and/or NX.
• Proven experience in design approval and production readiness processes, including:
• Mechanical drawing approval
• PL / FAI
• Prototype approval
• PRR and preparation for serial production.
• High-level English proficiency - spoken and written, including technical documentation.
