About OMMAI

OMMAI builds autonomous systems that run restaurant operations. We replace real-world front-of-house decisions with real-time algorithms that improve revenue and reduce operational waste.

In collaboration with Ontopo and Tel Aviv University, we bring frontier reinforcement learning, optimization, and statistical decision-making to traditionally low-tech operational domains.

The Role

Senior Research Software Engineer (Python • RL/Decision Systems). full-time, on-site in Tel Aviv-Yafo.

You will build and ship the software that trains, evaluates, and serves OMMAI’s algorithms.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs that run our engine in production.
• Build and maintain simulations, training environments, evals.
• Deploy production systems.
• Write high-quality Python: clean architecture, testing, profiling, and reliability.
• Run rigorous experiments with clear metrics and defensible comparisons.
• Partner across product/ops/research to turn constraints into objectives and shipped systems.

What We Need To See

• B.Sc./M.Sc./Ph.D. in CS/EE/CE (or equivalent depth).
• 2+ years shipping production Python systems (performance, testing, reliability).
• Strong algorithms + probability/statistics; comfort reasoning under uncertainty.
• Strong backend development experience (APIs, services, data contracts, observability).
• Collaborative, high-ownership teammate with clear communication.

Ways To Stand Out

• Hands-on experience with RL in practice (offline evaluation, safety/constraints, robust measurement).
• Experience with simulation and policy benchmarking.
• Depth in optimization and algorithm design (e.g., LP/MILP, combinatorial optimization, online decision-making).
• Research/open-source track record that demonstrates technical depth and high statistical understanding and knowledge.

Tech (Indicative)

Python, numerical computing, RL tooling (Gymnasium or equivalent), ML frameworks (PyTorch/JAX), backend services, observability.
