Responsibilities:
· Set the news and issue agenda for op-eds
· Commission, edit, and publish daily online op-eds
· Identify and nurture new writers while maintaining relationships with established ones
· Plan op-ed coverage for major scheduled events and Haaretz English projects
· Commission op-eds at short notice for breaking news; plan coverage for scheduled events and projects
· Collaborate closely with other commissioning editors, the social media editor, and Haaretz English print team
Requirements:
· Fluent in English (reading, writing, and editing); fluent in reading Hebrew
· 3-5 years of editing experience, comment/analysis/opinion editing experience
· Strong knowledge of Israel, the Middle East, and the Jewish world
· Excellent news judgment and fact-checking abilities
· Enthusiastic about developing new writers and commissioning expert voices
· Self-motivated and proactive; comfortable working to tight deadlines
Conditions:
· Full-time position
· Office location: Tel Aviv
· Due to the senior nature of this editorial role, the editor may occasionally need to work evenings and weekends to respond to news developments
