Product Manager (Defense Sector)

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead software and AI-driven products in the defense arena. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in managing complex software solutions, AI/ML-based systems, and data-centric products for defense and security customers, with a particular emphasis on overseas markets.

You will own the product lifecycle end-to-end from market discovery and concept definition through delivery, deployment, and ongoing optimization, ensuring our solutions deliver clear operational value to defense and homeland security customers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

●     Product Strategy & Roadmap

○     Define and own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for software and AI-based solutions in the defense domain.

○     Translate operational and tactical needs from defense customers into clear product requirements and prioritized backlogs.

●     Market & Customer Discovery

○     Conduct market research, user interviews, and competitive analysis across target regions (NATO, allied forces, and other overseas markets).

○     Identify trends in AI, data analytics, and mission software relevant to defense operations, and translate them into concrete product opportunities.

●     Requirements & Specifications

○     Work closely with R&D, AI/ML, and systems engineering teams to define detailed product specifications, system behaviors, and integration requirements.

○     Balance customer needs, technological constraints, cyber-security considerations, and regulatory requirements (export control, data security, classification, etc.).

●     Execution with R&D

○     Drive the product development process in an Agile environment, including backlog ownership, sprint prioritization, and trade-off decisions.

○     Ensure alignment between UX, software architecture, AI models, and operational use cases in the field.

●     Go-to-Market & Customer Engagement

○     Build and execute go-to-market plans for new software and AI capabilities in international defense markets.

○     Support business development and sales teams with product positioning, demos, proposals, and customer workshops.

○     Prepare and deliver high-quality product presentations, technical overviews, and training materials for internal teams, partners, and customers.

●     Lifecycle & Performance Management

○     Own the product lifecycle from concept through deployment, sustainment, and end-of-life decisions.

○     Monitor product usage, performance data, and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement, new features, and AI model refinement.

●     Cross-Functional Collaboration

○     Collaborate with Program Management, Presale/BD, Marketing, and Operations to ensure successful tenders, pilots, and large-scale deployments.

○     Coordinate with Legal and Compliance teams on licensing, export control, and other defense-related regulations.

Qualifications

●     Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field; Master’s degree (MBA or technical) is an advantage.

●     Minimum of 4 years of product management experience in the defense, security, or dual-use industries, focusing on software and/or AI-based products.

●     Proven experience working with overseas defense customers (e.g., ministries of defense, armed forces, system integrators, or prime contractors).

●     Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts, data pipelines, and cloud/on-prem software architectures (you don’t have to be a developer, but you must be technically fluent).

●     Strong track record in defining product requirements and driving products from concept to release in an Agile/Scrum environment.

●     Experience supporting tenders, RFPs/RFIs, and pilots/POCs with defense customers – a significant plus.

●     Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (additional languages are a plus).

●     Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams across R&D, operations, BD, and customers.

●     Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

Skills & Competencies

●     Proficiency with product management tools and methodologies (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Aha!, Productboard, etc.).

●     Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

●     Good understanding of:

○     Defense procurement processes and international business practices.

○     Cybersecurity, information assurance, and data protection considerations in defense environments.

○     Export control and other regulatory and compliance aspects related to software and AI in the defense sector.

●     Familiarity with CRM and marketing automation tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) to support sales and marketing activities.
