Senior AI/ML & Data Engineer

We’re early, moving fast, and already working with design partners and signed LOIs. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape a product from the ground up, with real ownership over foundational systems.

About the Role

We’re looking for an AI & Data Engineer to build the intelligence layer of our platform.

You’ll work in a 3-person engineering team designing and implementing systems that model customers’ financial structures; extracting costs, income, and hierarchy from emails, internal documents, and heterogeneous text and tabular data, and map them into a usable financial model. You’ll work mostly from scratch, deploy to AWS, and operate with a strong MVP mindset: simple, functional, fast-to-market solutions built by a small, high-performing engineering team. You’ll collaborate closely with a SaaS product team of engineers to display your extracted insights in a client-facing dashboard.

We expect strong development practices in versioning, testing, integration and deployment automation, breaking work into small testable increments, and communicating effectively with the team.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain ETL pipelines to collect, clean, and structure client data
• Implement document vectorization workflows
• Apply NLP and LLM models on unstructured data to extract structured, actionable insights
• Develop unsupervised models to infer a company’s financial structure and cost drivers
• Design custom algorithms to align extracted data with company hierarchies and financial models
• Collaborate with the product/dashboard team to display insights in a usable, intuitive way
• Maintain strong engineering practices in testing, version control, automation, and documentation
• Optionally, handle AWS deployments, infrastructure orchestration, and service connectivity

What We're Looking For (Must-Haves)

• Hands-on experience with embeddings and vector databases
• Strong background working with NLP models and LLMs (local inference and/or API-based)
• Proven experience building data pipelines and processing workflows
• Strong R&D mindset; ability to design custom solutions beyond off-the-shelf tools
• Experience working with AWS services, setup, orchestration, and deployments
• Experience with automation or data acquisition tools (n8n, Zapier, browser-based scraping)
• Ability to work autonomously, break work into small increments, and iterate quickly
• Clear communicator who can reason through trade-offs and decisions
• Ability to work flexible hours when needed

Nice-to-Haves (Not Required)

• Experience with AI applied to finance, FP&A, or enterprise data
• Cloud capabilities
• Experience with event-driven architectures or microservices
• Background in unsupervised learning on large/messy enterprise datasets
