Principal Security Research - Azure Networking

Overview

The Azure Networking Security Research (ANSR) team is part of a Network Security organization within Azure Networking. Network Security organization is driving several security products and charted with Azure backend network security. As part of this mission, ANSR is charted with exposing critical security gaps in the core system of entire Azure (not just networking), driving Azure-wide security initiatives, and specifically several company wide network security objectives. The challenge of maintaining the most reliable, secure and resilient cloud is immense, and ANSR team is a unique contributor bringing security excellency within the engineering organization.

We are seeking a Principal Security Architect to work with a high-impact team and lead cross organizational strategic efforts. In this role, you will apply your security expertise to identify new risks, work with engineering leaders to offer solutions, drive multi teams effort to improve Azure security posture, and communicate to senior leadership alternatives and recommendations. You will work with high performance security researchers to translate findings to wide impact across Azure and company.

Responsibilities

• You will guide cross-functional teams through architectural discussions and decision-making for secure design.
• You will conduct risk assessment and analysis for critical component in Azure.
• You will support security incidents remediation plans.
• You will develop and present architecture and design proposals to improve Azure security posture.
• You will collaborate with Partner Teams and the broader security ecosystem in Microsoft to leverage the full potential of Microsoft in mitigating risks across the tech stack.
• You will own threat modeling process for all Azure Networking services.
  
  

Qualifications

• You have at least 10+ years of security research experience.
• You have 4+ years in a technical leadership role such as architect, tech lead, team lead.
• Experience in operating and influencing teams in a complex organization.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in cloud computing, architecture, and security.
• Hands-on experience in offensive security/red teaming.
• You have experience bringing clarity to ambiguity by defining success metrics, aligning stakeholders, and authoring strategic direction documents that drive cross-functional execution.
• Proven track record of initiating cross-organization processes and engagement with senior leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
