About the Role:

We’re seeking an experienced VP of R&D to lead and scale our engineering organization as we continue to build the Nimble Platform. This is an opportunity to join an established Series B startup and lead a team of 40+ engineers and researchers.

As we grow, you’ll partner with the founding engineering leadership to elevate the organization to its next stage—mentoring engineering leaders and driving execution excellence at scale.

This role reports directly to the CEO. The ideal candidate has led R&D through rapid growth, scaling from early stages to a mature organization while operating as a key leader in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What You’ll be Doing:

• Own and drive the company’s R&D strategy, vision, and execution
• Foster a high-performance, ownership-driven culture across all levels of the team.
• Lead organizational scaling – managing rapid growth while maintaining agility and delivery standards.
• Partner closely with Product, and Business leadership to ensure tight alignment between product roadmap and engineering delivery
• Drive best practices in development, architecture, security, and infrastructure at scale.
• Recruit, mentor, and grow engineering leadership and technical talent.
• Guide the team through architectural decisions and technological evolution
• Lead cross-functional collaboration and introduce innovation while balancing speed, quality, and technical debt.

What You Should Have for the Role:

• Proven success as VP of R&D (or equivalent executive engineering role) in startup/scale-up environments.
• Prior success scaling from startup to growth stage, building a high-performing org from ~40 to ~100 engineers (or larger).
• Demonstrated execution excellence at scale: clear delivery cadences, quality bars and standards, having predictable outcomes, implemented process, tooling, and culture evolution.
• Part of the company leadership team, partnering closely with Product, GTM, and Customer Success to drive roadmap impact and adoption.
• Deep SaaS expertise and a strong track record building customer-facing B2B platforms.
• Proven ability to hire, develop, and retain top-tier engineering talent; strong org-design and succession planning.
• Excellent communication, leadership presence, and strategic thinking; effective exec-level stakeholder management.
• Modern stack — must. Hands-on familiarity with contemporary cloud, data, CI/CD, and observability practices.
