System Engineering Team Lead

About the role:

We are looking for a Systems Engineering Team Lead to join our R&D organization and lead a group of four Systems Engineers, while also taking an active, hands-on role in system development and product improvement. This position combines people leadership with deep technical involvement: you will mentor and guide the team, define priorities and workflows, and at the same time personally contribute to experiments, investigations, design reviews, and system-level problem solving.

In this multidisciplinary and hands-on position, you and your team will work across software, algorithms, mechanics, and electronics to optimize system performance and enhance reliability.

This person enjoys both guiding engineers and rolling up their sleeves to work directly on experiments, troubleshooting, and system-level optimization. Combines technical excellence with attention to detail, strong project management capabilities and proven experience in data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and support a team of four Systems Engineers.
• Define team priorities, workflows and development plans.
• Provide technical guidance, and hands-on coaching.
• Lead cross-functional technical projects, coordinating with R&D, Operations, and Quality.

Hands-on System Engineering

• Lead system engineering activities for new product and feature development.
• Plan and execute system-level experiments, analyze data, and propose data-driven solutions.
• Specify and review test procedures; validate and verify product performance.
• Lead failure investigations, root-cause analyses, and preventive design improvements.
• Develop and implement tools for production, quality control, and performance monitoring.

Candidates must have:

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science / Physics from a recognized university (M.Sc. preferred)
• 3+ years of experience in system engineering in a multidisciplinary environment (software, algorithms, mechanics, electronics)
• Proven experience in project management, including planning, execution, and cross-team coordination
• Experience managing or mentoring engineers (formal team leadership an advantage)
• Proven experience in data analysis, statistical analysis, preparing reports, and proposing data-driven solutions
• Hands-on experimentalist with strong troubleshooting skills
• Self-motivated and independent, with strong ownership over tasks
• Well-organized and capable of leading multiple complex technical tasks simultaneously
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Advantages:

• High-level programming skills in MATLAB or Python
• Experience with medical/diagnostic equipment design, quality, and regulatory requirements (ISO 13485, IEC 60601)
• Experience with image processing, machine vision, or electro-optic systems
