VP Engineering

A pioneering U.S.-based drone delivery startup is seeking a VP of Engineering to lead end-to-end hardware R&D, testing, and deployment.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, embedded software) in designing, developing, and prototyping new drones.
• Oversee systems engineering, integration, testing, and performance optimization.
• Manage FAA Type Certification processes and maintain regulatory compliance.
• Supervise manufacturing, maintenance, supply chain, and quality control.
• Lead electronics development and new product introduction (NPI) from PCB design to mass production.
• Provide engineering support and ensure technical documentation for smooth field operations.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to set priorities, budgets, and engineering strategy.
• Build and mentor a high-performing, innovative, and accountable engineering team.

Requirements-

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership, including at least 2 years in senior management roles (Manager/Director/VP).
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary hardware teams (mechanical, electrical, embedded software, systems engineering).
• Hands-on experience in aviation hardware development, including prototyping, reliability testing, and large-scale production.
• Deep understanding of avionics, critical flight electronics, and safety certification processes.
• Extensive knowledge of FAA approval pathways (e.g., Type Certification, Part 135, Part 21, STCs).
• Expertise in supply chain strategy, supplier certification, and quality control in the aerospace sector.
• Experience building and scaling engineering teams, including recruitment and mentorship of top talent.
• Ability to translate business objectives into clear engineering roadmaps, balancing innovation with regulatory compliance.
