Position Overview

Groundwork BioAg is seeking a Carbon COO to lead one of the company's most critical growth engines. This role is central to our long-term success and will position Groundwork at the forefront of global carbon sequestration in agriculture. The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of agriculture with strong business acumen and proven ability to translate strategy into execution in a dynamic and evolving market.

Reporting to the Chief Carbon Officer and to the CEO, the Carbon COO will operate and drive Groundwork's carbon strategy, build a robust operation, and create partnerships that establish our leadership in carbon markets. Key Responsibilities

Operations & Execution

• Lead the execution of Groundwork's carbon growth strategy with a focus on measurable, data-driven outcomes
• Build and scale operations infrastructure to support rapid growth across global markets
• Manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects involving farmers, regulators, data providers, technology partners, and business collaborators
• Establish operational excellence through systematic processes, KPIs, and continuous improvement methodologies

Data-Driven Decision Making

• Own the analysis and interpretation of carbon sequestration data to extract actionable insights
• Develop and implement data analytics frameworks to optimize program performance and ROI
• Leverage digital tools, software platforms, and algorithmic solutions to enhance operational efficiency
• Transform complex datasets into strategic recommendations for executive leadership

Partnership & Ecosystem Development

• Build and support a global ecosystem of partners to create an innovative, world-leading carbon business unit
• Serve as the driving force for positioning Groundwork as a global leader in carbon sequestration methodologies
• Manage relationships across multiple interfaces including agronomic teams, technology vendors, certification bodies, and commercial partners

Strategic Collaboration

• Collaborate closely with the Chief Carbon Officer on shaping and implementing the company's global carbon strategy
• Ensure alignment across internal and external stakeholders to deliver sustainable business outcomes
• Monitor global regulation, standards, and thought leaders in the climate and carbon fields to anticipate changes and drive innovation

Requirements

Essential Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading global operations with measurable impact and demonstrated ability to scale complex initiatives
• Proven track record of managing multi-stakeholder projects and driving results across diverse teams and geographies
• Strong analytical capabilities with demonstrated experience deriving insights from large, complex datasets
• Data-driven mindset with proficiency in analytics tools, digital platforms, and performance measurement systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep understanding of sustainability and climate markets, with familiarity in frameworks and registries (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard, SBTi)
• Strong background in agriculture; experience in mycology or agronomy is a significant advantage.
• MBA, advanced degree, or equivalent professional experience in operations, business, or related field
• Experience with carbon markets, environmental commodities, or climate technology sectors
• Technical proficiency with data visualization tools, CRM systems, and project management platforms
