Development Team Lead

Edikted is a trend-driven global Gen-Z fashion brand that brings pop-culture vibes and must-have styles straight to your closet.

We are looking for a Development Team Lead to level up our internal tooling on Retool and build a dedicated backend layer that decouples Retool from direct database access. In this hands-on leadership role, you will own the technical direction of our internal tools platform, lead and grow a development team, define architecture, drive best practices, and deliver scalable backend solutions (Python or Node.js) that empower cross-functional teams across the company while ensuring high-quality delivery of internal applications and services.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and unblock engineers; set goals, run effective rituals, and foster ownership and growth.
• Architect and implement REST/GraphQL APIs, services, and integrations (Python or Node.js) that power Retool apps and other internal consumers.
• Define API contracts, versioning, and documentation; champion reliability, observability, and performance.
• Maintain and communicate the technical backlog; estimate work, sequence delivery, manage releases, and track outcomes.
• Partner with Product and the CTO on discovery, scoping, and roadmap estimation; clarify requirements and trade-offs early.
• Implement CI/CD, IaC, and environment strategy; ensure sensible permissions, secrets management, and least-privilege access.
• Establish testing strategy (unit/integration/e2e), code review quality bars, and coding guidelines.
• Collaborate cross-functionally (Data, Analytics, Ops, CX, Finance, Logistics) to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Drive reliability practices: SLIs/SLOs, on-call rotation, incident playbooks, postmortems, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading engineers or technical programs.
• Strong experience building backend services and APIs with Node.js (TypeScript: Express/NestJS) or Python (FastAPI/Flask/Django).
• Excellent SQL fundamentals and data modeling; comfortable with relational databases (Postgres/MySQL) and writing efficient queries.
• Proven ability to translate product requirements into technical designs and incremental delivery plans.
• Hands-on with Git workflows, code reviews, and CI/CD; experience operating services in the cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Solid testing discipline (unit/integration/e2e) and familiarity with observability (logs/metrics/traces) and application security best practices.
• Clear, pragmatic communicator who can set direction, make architecture decisions, and dive deep to unblock.

Nice to Have:

• Experience administering or developing at scale on Retool (or similar internal-tools platforms like Appsmith/Budibase), including governance and Git sync.
• TypeScript, GraphQL, Prisma/SQLAlchemy, Redis, message queues (Kafka/Rabbit/SQS), and API Gateways.
• Observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, Datadog) and error tracking (Sentry).
• E‑commerce domain familiarity and product-minded mindset.
