System Engineer – Underwater Sonar & Acoustic Sensing Systems

Role Overview

A senior system engineering position with full end-to-end ownership of advanced sonar, underwater sensing, and acoustic processing systems. The role covers the entire system lifecycle: requirements definition, architecture, integration, verification, sea trials, and customer delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the system engineering process for sonar and underwater acoustic sensing systems.
• Translate operational needs into technical requirements and system documents (SRS, ICD, CONOPS).
• Define system architecture, allocate subsystems, and manage interdisciplinary interfaces (mechanical, electronics, software, communications, DSP).
• Plan and execute integration and verification activities (IV&V), including sea and field trials.
• Perform performance analyses: detection ranges, SNR, signal processing, target tracking, and acoustic behavior.
• Work closely with customers, R&D teams, subcontractors, and production partners.
• Manage configuration control and lead system-level investigations and failure analysis.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Electrical / Electronics / Physics / Aerospace / Systems Engineering (M.Sc. an advantage).
• 7+ years of development experience, including at least 3 years as a System Engineer.
• Proven experience with multi-disciplinary defense systems.
• Strong capabilities in writing technical and system documentation.
• Excellent English.
• Availability for field and sea tests.
• Background in sonar, underwater acoustics, DSP, or real-time systems.
